What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files sent to the user by the visited website. They are stored on the computer’s hard drive, allowing the website to recognize users and store certain information about them, in order to allow or improve the service offered. There are different types of cookies. Some are necessary to navigate the site, while others have different purposes such as ensuring internal security, administering the system, performing statistical analysis, understanding which sections of the site interest users the most, or offering a personalized visit to the site. The Site uses technical cookies and non-profiling cookies. The foregoing refers to both the user’s computer and any other device that the user may use to connect to the Site.

Technical cookies

Technical cookies are those used solely for the purpose of transmitting a communication over an electronic communication network, or to the extent strictly necessary to provide a service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide such service. They are not used for any other purpose and are normally installed directly by the owner or operator of the website. They can be divided into navigation or session cookies, which guarantee the normal navigation and use of the website (allowing, for example, the completion of a purchase or authentication to access reserved areas); analytics cookies, assimilated to technical cookies when used directly by the website manager to collect information, in aggregated form, on the number of users and how they visit the website itself; functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate based on a series of selected criteria (for example, language, products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service provided to the user.

Profiling cookies

Profiling cookies are aimed at creating profiles related to the user and are used in order to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user in the context of web browsing. For the use of profiling cookies, the consent of the data subject is required. According to the provision no. 229 of May 8, 2014, the user must be able to authorize or refuse consent to the installation of profiling cookies if they are present. In the case of third-party cookies, the website does not have direct control over individual cookies and cannot control them (it cannot install or delete them directly). However, it is still possible to manage these cookies through browser settings (follow the instructions provided below), or the sites indicated in the “Cookie Management” section. Disabling cookies may limit the ability to use the Site and prevent the full use of its features and services. To decide which cookies to accept and which to reject, a description of the cookies used on the Site is provided below.
